Come drop in for #MagaliesRockstheCradle 2021
We have a some great events planned for the upcoming Magalies Rocks the Cradle Festival.
Fireside Chat
Our relationship with fire goes back to our earliest development as a species, with evidence of fire use found over 1-million years ago right here in the Cradle of Humankind.
From chance encounters with this precious element to eventually controlling and manipulating it, fire has long been an important part of our human journey.
Join our curator, Kimberleigh Tommy, for an experience that is deeply ingrained in our evolutionary history; share a meal and the company of others; and, of course, listen to the fascinating story of the star of the show – fire.

Stargazing
A dark, clear, moonless winter evening is the best time to explore the Milky Way.
Take a closer look at the Milky Way, also known as the “backbone of the sky” and the “Arch of the Heavens”, which consists of about 100-billion stars. Our resident astronomer, Vincent Nettmann, will present a pre-dinner illustrated talk featuring our Milky Way galaxy.
The talk is a general look at the science of astronomy, presented in Nettmann’s “edu-taining” and easily understandable manner. After dinner, participate in a laser-guided binoculars tour while stargazing through our large-aperture telescopes (weather conditions permitting).
Dress warmly and bring your own binoculars. A delicious dinner is included. Price for the evening is R375pp (excl. drinks). Please don’t forget a jacket as the evenings are cold!
