Explore the depths of the Sterkfontein Caves with our guided tours and see where ‘Mrs Ples’ and ‘Little Foot’ were discovered.. Only 10 minutes from Maropeng, both tours make for the perfect day out in the Cradle.

We know that going back in time is hungry work, so we have a variety of options to choose from.
Please note that all our restaurants are cashless environments. Only Credit or Debit Cards are accepted.
Tumulus Restaurant
With breathtaking views over the Magaliesburg and Witwatersburg Mountains, the Tumulus Restaurant is the perfect way to enjoy the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site landscape.
Open on the weekends only, the Tumulus offers a la carte options on Saturday and our renowned buffet on a Sunday.

Covid Update
Maropeng is committed to ensuring a safe environment for our visitors and staff.
Masks are compulsory, both indoors and outdoors, and will be strictly enforced. The only time they are not required is if you are enjoying a meal or in your room at the hotel.
Sanitising stations are placed throughout the property and the hotel and restaurants are sanitised on a regular basis
Due to our Covid protocols space is limited on our tours, so book early to avoid disappointment.
